‘Cancel NEET UG 2021’: Plea in SC to conduct re-exam over paper leak reports

NEW DELHI: Aspirants have filed a petition before the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of NEET UG 2021 entrance examination held on September 12 over the paper leak reports. The medical aspirants have also asked the apex court to conduct fresh exams.

The petition filed by 13 NEET UG aspirants said that reports from different parts of the country started coming since the NEET UG 2021 exam day “of using unfair mean, malpractices, solver gang, impersonation, paper leak etc during examination on September 12”.
Himanshu Borah, president of All India JEE-NEET student association said, “Injustice with honest and hardworking NEET aspirants. Exam stands vitiated even if one student is being benefitted illegally. So we pray for re-NEET exam to ensure fairness and justice.”

It must be noted that on September 7, a section of NEET UG 2021 aspirants submitted a detailed report and requested the director-general of NTA to conduct phase 2 for NEET UG 2021 exam citing exam pattern change, exam dates clash with other competitive exams and COVID-19 pandemic.
“The plea has also sought directions to the Ministry of Education, National Testing Agency and National Medical Commission to enhance the standard of security protocols including biometric verification of candidates, use of jammers etc to conduct the examination in a fair and transparent manner,” Live Law reported.
The plea asked NTA to submit an affidavit within a week as to why the exam should not be cancelled.
A day before the exam, the NTA had dismissed rumours of NEET 2021 paper leak that surfaced on Twitter. Following this, the Jaipur police arrested a candidate who appeared in NEET UG 2021 along with an invigilator for the alleged leak of NEET exam after the exam on September 12.
