NEW DELHI: The Common Admission Test (CAT) is expected to be conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore, this year. The official notification for this MBA entrance exam will be released this month. Along with it, the CAT 2022 dates will be announced. The CAT registration window will open in the first week of August, and the exam date will be November 27, tentatively. The official CAT 2022 exam date will be notified only after the release of the notification.
IIM Bangalore last conducted the CAT exam in 2016 and is expected to conduct CAT 2022 after a gap of 6 years. CAT entrance exam is held every year for admission to MBA/ PGPM/ Executive MBA/ PGDM and other management programmes offered by 20 IIMs and over 1000+ management institutes in India. Every year, around 2 lakh candidates apply for this MBA entrance test.

Eligibility criteria for CAT exam 2022

Candidates who completed a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university/ institute with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for ST/ SC/ PwD) are eligible to apply for CAT 2022.

There is no age restriction to apply.

Work experience is not mandatory to apply for the CAT exam 2022.

Major changes in the previous year’s CAT exam

CAT application fee for the General/ OBC category was increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,200 and from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,100 for SC/ ST/ PwD category.

Last year, the CAT exam was conducted at over 400 CAT test centres in 158 cities. Ulhasnagar was removed from the list and Madgaon (Goa) and Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) were added.

Like last year, the CAT 2022 question paper is likely to have a total of 66 questions. Candidates will get 40 minutes to solve each section of the CAT exam 2022.

While filling out the CAT 2022 application form, applicants were given the option to choose up to 6 exam cities of their choice.
The official CAT 2022 notification will also shed light on the paper pattern. The CAT exam pattern is likely to be on similar lines to that of last year. Questions in the exam will be asked from three sections - Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), and Quantitative Ability (QA). The CAT exam will be of 120 minutes.
