"There is no reason to set aside the result of CAT 2024 . The petition is dismissed," held the court. The exam was conducted on November 24, 2024, and a provisional answer key was released on December 3 the same year.
Petitioner Aditya Kumar Mallick, who claimed to have written the exam, raised an objection over the provisional answer key and said there was an error in an answer declared for one of the questions of the English comprehension section. He said despite the objection, the final answer key was released with no changes in the provisional answer key.
Mallick said his objection was supported by distinguished experts and faculty of various CAT coaching centres. The plea said IIM Calcutta hurriedly declared the results on December 19, 2024, without giving any reason or affording him time to take the legal recourse.
The petitioner said the result was expected in the second week of January, 2025, and the haste in declaring results in December, 2024, "spoke volumes". The petitioner therefore sought a direction to set aside the results and appoint an expert committee to ascertain the correct answers.
