Khushboo Arya - PGT, English at JAIN International Residential School (JIRS), Bengaluru, said that the CBSE Class 12 section A was easy and as per the sample papers. While, writing questions in section B were also easy and as per the sample paper, she added.
"Reference to context questions in section C were very easy for students who have practiced sample papers. Overall, the literature questions were mostly aligned with the NCERT textbooks. 5 marker literature questions were competency-based but not very difficult for a student who has thoroughly practiced," Arya said.
CBSE Class 12 passing marks
To pass the Class 12 English exam, students must score at least 33%. After the exam, the CBSE Class 12 English question paper analysis 2026 will be released.
The CBSE Class 12 board exams 2026 are being held from February 17 to April 10 for 114 subjects at more than 8,000 exam centres. Over 18–20 lakh students are taking the CBSE Class 12 board exams 2026.
As per CBSE guidelines, students must bring their CBSE Class 12 admit card and school ID to the exam centre for verification. A 15-minute reading time was given from 10:15 am to 10:30 am, so students could go through the 12th English question paper before attempting.

CBSE has started an on-screen evaluation system for the Class 12 board exams 2026 to make the assessment faster, more transparent, and efficient. In this system, answer sheets are scanned and uploaded to a digital platform called CBSE Onmark (cbse.onmark.co.in), where teachers evaluate them using a computer.

Based on the previous year's question paper, the CBSE Class 12 English question paper 2026 is expected to be of moderate difficulty, featuring a balanced blend of questions covering Reading Comprehension, Writing, and Literature. The Reading section is likely to include two to three passages designed to assess students' comprehension skills and vocabulary.
It is expected that the writing Section will comprise formal letters, articles, and reports, while the Literature Section will contain questions drawn from NCERT textbooks such as 'Flamingo' and 'Vistas'.

Heena Kulkarni, Subject Matter Expert, Lancers Army Schools, said that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 English Core Board examination paper was overall well-structured and balanced. "The question paper reflected the pattern suggested in the latest sample papers and fairly covered reading, writing, and literature skills. The reading comprehension passages were clear and manageable for most students, while the writing section allowed students to express their ideas effectively through formats. The paper tested not only language skills but also students’ ability to organise thoughts logically and present them clearly," Kulkarni said.
"Section C (Literature) had an average difficulty level, but it required thorough textual knowledge and strong interpretative skills. Students who had carefully studied the prescribed texts and understood themes, characters, and literary devices would have found the questions approachable. Extract-based questions demanded close reading and contextual understanding. Overall, the paper successfully assessed both conceptual clarity and analytical ability, making it a fair examination for well-prepared students," she added.

The questions were straightforward and largely drawn from the prescribed syllabus, which made the paper comfortable to attempt. The Literature section was slightly lengthy, but it was still manageable with proper time management. Overall, I was able to complete the paper calmly and confidently, which has motivated me for the rest of my examinations.”

Those who prepared well would have found the questions fairly easy. The short answer questions were straightforward, and the writing section was easy for students familiar with the formats. Subject expert Khushboo Arya - PGT, English at JAIN International Residential School (JIRS), Bengaluru, said that the section A of set 2 was easy and as per the sample paper. "Section B writing questions were easy to attempt and section C extracts were same as set 1. However, in set 2, a few 2-markers (Q10) needed a little more intricate knowledge of chapters when compared to set 1 and 5 markers were very easy," she said.
Arya also explained that the CBSE Class 12 section A and C of set 3 extract same as set 1. "Literature was also more or less the same. Overall, the Question paper was easy for any student who has practiced sample question papers. In fact, in the 'Invitation and Replies’ topic, it was very easy to identify which one to write- a card / letter.Thorough students should be able to get 90% above and average students can also easily score aboue 75%," Arya added.

"Section B- Writing questions were also easy and as per the sample paper. However, a minute detail in Q:5B(Job Application) can confuse the average slow learners, as they are used to seeing National Daily in questions and give a name to the paper but in the question paper, the name itself was given as ‘The National Times’ instead of national daily. The report-writing question required students to be mindful, as the event is not a one-day but a week-long event, but the Questions were very easy," she added.
"Section C referered to context questions was very easy for students who have practiced sample papers. Overall, the literature questions were mostly aligned with the NCERT textbooks. 5 marker literature questions were competency-based but not very difficult for a student who has thoroughly practiced," Arya said.
