CBSE, NCB conduct drug awareness programme at Sanskriti School; over 500 students and 25 teachers participate

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) jointly organised a Drug Awareness Programme at Sanskriti School, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The initiative follows an agreement signed between CBSE and NCB on September 3 , 2025, aimed at promoting drug-free school environments.

The programme saw participation from more than 500 students and 25 teachers, reflecting a structured approach to integrating substance abuse prevention into the education system. This initiative aligns with national efforts to build informed and vigilant young citizens.

The programme included presentations on strategies for early intervention, de-addiction, and rehabilitation. Participants engaged in a street play (Nukkad Natak) conveying anti-drug messages and attended a session on the importance of collective vigilance in preventing substance abuse. The event concluded with students and teachers taking a pledge against drug use.

CBSE, NCB initiatives for student well-being

CBSE and NCB officials highlighted ongoing initiatives to strengthen student well-being, including the Counselling Hub & Spoke Model, Parenting Calendar, Career Guidance Dashboard, and the CBSE–AIIMS MATE Programme. The NCB also promoted the MANAS Helpline (1933) to provide information and assistance related to drug abuse and trafficking.

According to the official press release, Richa Sharma Agnihotri, Principal of Sanskriti School, underlined the role of schools in addressing substance abuse and fostering informed students.

“This initiative forms part of CBSE and NCB’s sustained efforts to integrate substance abuse prevention within the education system, in alignment with the national vision of creating vigilant, resilient, and informed young citizens,” the press release said.
