The board, however, has not announced the new dates for the exams. The exams for both the classes will be held as per schedule in all other states including Chandigarh.

"Taking cognisance of the letter of the director general (school education), the CBSE decided to postpone all class 12 and 10 examinations scheduled for April 2, 2018 in the state of Punjab," said a notice released by CBSE.

The papers scheduled for April 2 are French, Sanskrit and Urdu Course-B for class 10 and Hindi Elective, Gujarati, Nepali, Kashmiri and Hindi core for class 12.

CBSE has been in the centre of controversy over leak of Economics and Mathematics papers from classes 12 and 10 respectively. While the board has announced the re-examination date for the Economics paper - on April 25, it is yet to decide the re- conduct date for the Mathematics paper. Although, it is expected to be held in July only for students from Delhi and Haryana.

On April 1, Delhi Police arrested two teachers and a tutor in connection to the Economics paper leak. Earlier, the police had also arrested a coaching centre owner and questioned over 25 people on paper leaks.
