NEW DELHI, MARCH 12: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked schools to discontinue a few electives including English Communicative of class 9 and English Elective of class 11, from academic year 2018-19. The Central Board has issued a circular asking schools to discontinue a total of 6 electives – 3 each of class 9 and class 11.

The CBSE circular, which is a reminder of a similar circular issued last year, has asked schools to not offer these subjects from the 2018-19 academic session. However, students pursuing these subjects currently can continue the same in class 10 and 12 in the session 2018-19.

Two other elective subjects discontinued in class 9 include Information and Communication Technology and E-Publishing and E-office. For class 11, the other subjects discontinued from academic year 2018-19 include Dance, Multimedia and Web Technology.
