CBSE cancels registration of CBSE-WSO, warns against unauthorised use of its name

Registration of CBSE-Board School Games Welfare Society has been cancelled months after the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) suspended its affiliation.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cancelled the registration of CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society (CBSE-WSO), Agra due to unauthorised and misleading use of its name without the consent of the Board. The Board has cautioned schools that it has "no association or endorsement" with the society.
The CBSE has informed all affiliated schools that it has "no association, affiliation, endorsement, or connection" with the CBSE-WSO. "Any communications, activities, or claims made by this entity should be treated as unauthorised and invalid," it said.
The board specifically cautioned schools to refrain from engaging with, supporting, or sponsoring students for any sports events, activities, or programmes conducted or promoted by this society.

The advisory comes months after the executive committee of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) suspended its affiliation with CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society (CBSEWSO) and International Board School Sports Organization (IBSSO).
Despite the suspension, SGFI has clarified that the board would continue to participate in federation events through the official CBSE unit, ensuring that no student-athlete loses eligibility "due to affiliation issues".
