CJP Parliament March Live: Protestors gather at Jantar Mantar again; more than 100 supporters detained

In response to the police's brutality against CJP supporters and the general public, activist Sonam Wangchuk has decided to continue his fast.

Hours after several people and police officers were injured during the 'Chalo Sansad' march, CJP supporters, including leader Dipke, began the protest again. CJP supporters Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das visited JP Nadda's residence today and conveyed their demands. 

Students and CJP protestors are now awaiting their response from the government, while Nadda posted on his social media account and requested that they end their sit-in and assist the administration in restoring normalcy.

According to the education ministry, more than 1,000 information and communication technology (ICT) labs approved for Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) across the country have not yet become operational. Whereas more than a hundred Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) fall short of the prescribed student-computer ratio. The response came after questions were raised in the Lok Sabha.

According to a PTI report, thousands of students organised a protest rally in Arunachal Pradesh's Itanagar, supporting of activist Sonam Wangchuk, and demanded strict action against alleged paper leak scams and called for transparency and accountability in the country's education system.

CJP supporter Saurav Das posted on a social media account and said that they are still waiting for a response from the government on our demands. Meanwhile, the protest is continuing at Jantar Mantar (outside Kerala House). 

As per the Careers360 report, CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke was detained, but later released. CJP has posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account and its founder Dipke, has invited the public to join them at Jantar Mantar to continue the agitation against Dharmendra Pradhan.

"The BJP had sent goons to infiltrate the protest and tried to create mischief today. CJP and its protesters have a track record of peaceful protests. Abhijeet says the brutal repression of the youth shows the govt is not happy with just taking 20 NEET students’ lives. They would have killed protestors had we continued to push our way through and reach the Parliament. That’s why we are now back at Jantar Mantar where our peaceful protest continues."

According to CJP's post, students were assaulted by police to send a message "never dare to raise your voice again." 

The protestors at the Jantar Mantar are still at the site. Delhi Police has not made any statement regarding the violence. Several students and the general public have alleged injuries due to the stone pelting and lathi charge.

Talking about the CJP protest, Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury raised concerns over Delhi Police using tear gas against children in the Jantar Mantar protest and said: 

"Parliament is in session, and you are using tear gas against children. Is this how a government functions? Inside the House, they jammed our WhatsApp and closed the gates. What kind of government is this? Parliament belongs to the children as well. It is their right guaranteed by the Constitution."

AISA president Neha on Monday ended her 23-day hunger strike following appeals from civil society members and Opposition leaders. Calling the large turnout at the CJP's Parliament march the movement's "biggest achievement", she reiterated the demand for Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation. The student body also alleged that its Delhi University office-bearer Rovin suffered a fractured left arm during the police action and claimed several other activists were injured, including one student who sustained a shoulder dislocation. AISA further alleged that male police personnel used batons on women protesters.

In a subsequent update posted at 4:22 pm, Ranka said the minister had also assured the delegation that there would be "no further crackdown" at or around Jantar Mantar. However, he added that there were "no reports yet of police stopping" the alleged action against protesters.

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said he and Saurav Das have been at Union Minister J.P. Nadda's residence since noon and submitted the group's demands, including the resignation or removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Ranka said Nadda assured them the matter would be discussed at the appropriate level.

Delhi Police on Monday dismissed a viral social media post alleging that personnel assaulted a woman, purportedly activist Sonam Wangchuk's wife Geetanjali Agmo, and injured 40-50 protesters, including a 12-year-old girl, during the 'Chalo Sansad' protest in the national capital. Police urged people not to circulate misleading information.

This comes after  CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das claimed on X, "Geetanjali ji's hair was pulled by Delhi Police and assaulted; a 12-year-old girl's head has been broken; 40-50 other heads were broken". The post questioned the police's action against the protesters. The police issued a fact-check on X, rejecting the allegations and maintaining that the claims made in the viral social media posts were incorrect, reiterating its appeal to the public not to share or amplify unverified information. 

The students' association of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) held a protest on the FTII campus this morning in support of the 'Sansad Chalo' march of CJP. "In the light of the ongoing protests that are being held nationwide demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan," the students of FTII stand with the cause, the FTII Students' Association (FSA) said in a statement. Just in the last couple of months, the FTII entrance test paper was leaked, but there has been no accountability on the same, it said.

"If educational institutions are not doing their job, then nothing can happen for the country. Students from across the nation are coming together, and the Students' Association stands in solidarity. We are continuing our fight," a FSA member told PTI.

The Rajya Sabha adjourned for the day as Opposition members, led by the Congress, demanded action against those responsible for the alleged NEET-UG 2026 medical entrance examination paper leak. On the opening day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the Upper House witnessed six adjournments during the day's proceedings. The House was first adjourned soon after the laying of papers, oath-taking by newly elected members, and obituary references.

After the papers were tabled, Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge rose to speak on the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, saying the issue concerned the future of lakhs of students. Amid the uproar, the Chair adjourned the House till noon.

The proceedings were then adjourned successively till 12.30 pm, 12.50 pm, and 2.30 pm before the House was finally adjourned for the day.

Students and advocates staged a protest at Kranti Chowk in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Monday, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in education sector and paper leaks. One of the protesters, claiming to be a NEET aspirant, questioned why the government had not fixed accountability for the alleged paper leak. She also criticised the Centre for not issuing any statement despite activist Sonam Wangchuk's hunger strike, saying, "This is not democracy."

The protesters alleged the use of batons and tear gas by the police, but continued raising slogans demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor criticised the alleged use of tear gas and lathi-charge against CJP protesters in Delhi. Speaking to ANI reporters, Priyanka Gandhi questioned the alleged use of force against students, saying the government was unwilling to discuss their concerns in Parliament. Tharoor also questioned the police action against what he described as a non-violent protest. He said that Parliament should serve as a forum to debate issues raised by the Opposition instead of refusing discussion.

CJP spokespersons Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das said they met Union Minister J.P. Nadda at his residence for about 10 minutes after waiting for more than two hours. According to Das, the delegation submitted a written list of demands, and Nadda assured them he would discuss the matter internally. Das added that reports of mass detentions had emerged while the meeting was underway.

In a separate update, Ranka said Delhi Police initiated contact with the group late on Sunday (July 19) night through the DCP (New Delhi) to open a communication channel with the government. He said discussions intensified from around 6 am on Monday, and an understanding to meet Nadda was reached at about 11:45 am.

CJP leader Saurav Das earlier claimed that activist Dipke had been picked up by the police during the Parliament march and alleged that security personnel were using force against peaceful protesters. However, in CJP's latest post, Das clarified that Dipke was "not in detention or under arrest" and said a large crowd continues to remain gathered outside Kerala House.

Security was tightened across Delhi and at its border entry points on Monday ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) march to Parliament. Police deployed additional personnel at key entry points connecting the national capital with neighbouring states and set up barricades for extensive vehicle checks. Security was also stepped up at sensitive locations in the New Delhi district to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents during the protest, officials said.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Monday morning reiterated that its demands remain unchanged, seeking accountability from Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the deaths by suicide of more than 20 students and compensation of Rs 1 crore each for their families. The group said its protest would continue until "justice" is delivered. It also confirmed that its planned march to Parliament would go ahead as scheduled, with activist Sonam Wangchuk appealing to people across the country to join the demonstration.

Hundreds of students, youth and senior citizens staged a protest at Samvidhan Square in Nagpur today in support of activist Sonam Wangchuk and the Cockroach Janta Party's agitation in Delhi, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities. Raising anti-government slogans over the alleged exam paper leaks, the protesters vowed to continue their agitation until Pradhan steps down.

Activist Sonam Wangchuk on Monday wrote to the medical superintendent of Safdarjung Hospital, requesting permission to leave the hospital "even if temporarily" so he could participate in the Cockroach Janta Party's "Sansad Chalo" march to Parliament. In his handwritten letter, Wangchuk said he was "feeling very fine" and that his health parameters were normal. "Hence, I request you to kindly allow me to leave the hospital, even if temporarily, so that I can join the march to Parliament -- Sansad Chalo -- this morning," he wrote in the letter dated July 20, adding, "I shall be most grateful."

Thousands of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protesters, including students, parents, teachers, content creators, activists and education advocates, have reached the area near the Reserve Bank of India, close to Parliament. They are raising slogans against the Centre over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations. The demonstrators are demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and greater accountability for examination-related issues.The protest continues amid repeated adjournments in both Houses of Parliament.

The meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhisthan (VBSA) Bill, scheduled for July 20 to adopt its draft report, has been cancelled without any explanation. No fresh date has been announced. The meeting had earlier been postponed from July 17 after members received the draft report only a day in advance. According to sources, NDA alliance members have raised objections to certain provisions of the Bill. The development comes amid widespread protests over education issues and repeated disruptions in Parliament during the Monsoon Session.

Security forces used tear gas shells near Shastri Bhawan here as several protesters attempted to push through security barricades in a bid to reach Jantar Mantar to join CJP's march to Parliament. The action came amid heightened tensions in the high-security zone. PTI reports, "Several commuters were stranded inside nearby metro stations after access was restricted and station gates were closed as a precautionary measure. Heavy deployment of police and paramilitary personnel remained in place across central Delhi to prevent any breach of security."

CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka are meeting Union Minister J.P. Nadda after the group said the government reached out to initiate talks. There is, however, no official confirmation from the Centre or any statement on the outcome of the meeting so far.

Proceedings have witnessed repeated disruptions amid protests by opposition members over several issues, including the NEET paper leak.

The Delhi High Court Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Tejas Karia, has agreed to hear at 2:30 pm today an appeal filed by activist Sonam Wangchuk's wife, Dr Gitanjali Angmo. The appeal challenges a single judge's order rejecting her plea to shift Wangchuk from Safdarjung Hospital to a private hospital of his choice.

According to PTI, a baton charge was reportedly carried out near Parliament Street after thousands of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protesters allegedly attempted to breach police barricades while marching towards Parliament. PTI, citing sources, reported that the protesters tried to push through multiple barricades in the high-security zone at around 11:25 am, leading to a brief scuffle in which some protesters and police personnel sustained minor injuries. The Congress on Monday alleged that police resorted to a lathi charge on students protesting against the NEET paper leak at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Former Delhi CM Atishi says stronger exam oversight could have prevented paper leaks. In a post on X, she said, "If the police and administration had put even half as much effort into conducting exams as they have today into stopping this march of youth at Jantar Mantar, there wouldn't have been any paper leaks. If they'd run the government with even half that intensity, the country wouldn't be in such a terrible state."

Hours after warning NEET UG 2026 candidates against submitting fabricated or AI-generated OMR answer sheets, the National Testing Agency (NTA) began responding on X to several candidates who had raised concerns on social media over alleged discrepancies in their OMR sheets and scorecards. In a series of posts, the agency said it had verified its records, alleged that the OMR images being circulated were digitally altered, and maintained that the scores declared were correct. This comes as protesters have started marching towards Parliament, demanding the resignation of the education minister over alleged NEET irregularities, including the paper leak.

Heavy police security checks lead to long traffic jams on the Noida-Delhi route. Entry and exit gates at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station have been closed, while crowds continue to build at Mandi House. Janpath Metro Station's Gate No. 2 has also been shut as security is tightened ahead of the march.

A Careers360 reporter at the protest site received an SMS alert from her telecom service provider stating that internet services had been "temporarily stopped" in the area. The message read: "Dear Customer, As per the Government instructions, the internet services have been temporarily stopped in your area."

Ahead of Parliament's Monsoon Session, PM Modi says government reforms have given youth the confidence to take commendable steps. He further said, "I am firmly convinced that where there are facts and logic, there is no room for a storm."

Activist Sonam Wangchuk's condition remains stable, but his blood parameters continue to require close clinical observation, according to a health bulletin issued by Safdarjung Hospital at 10 am today. The hospital said Wangchuk is receiving comprehensive medical care and remains under continuous medical management. His wife was seen addressing the protesters and expressing gratitude for their peaceful protest.

Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) chief and MP Chandrashekhar Azad expressed support for the CJP protest, saying he stood with the students and would raise their concerns in Parliament. Addressing protesters at Jantar Mantar, Azad alleged that injustice was being done to the youth and said he was there to represent their voice. He also said the party would take up the issue both on the streets and in Parliament Monsoon Session.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is willing to hold talks with the government after the administration initiated communication, but claimed there has been no clarity from the authorities so far. Talking about activist Sonam Wangchuk's condition, he said that it remains stable and that he is continuing his hunger strike. Wangchuk has extended his wishes to the students participating in the protest.

Protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar are displaying placards calling for accountability in the education system and reforms in public examinations. Gitanjali Angmo has approached the Delhi High Court challenging the refusal to transfer Sonam Wangchuk from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital. The petition argues that a competent adult has the right to choose or refuse medical treatment. It further added that one cannot be kept in a hospital against his wishes.

CPI Rajya Sabha MP P. Sandosh Kumar has submitted a Rule 267 notice seeking suspension of the House's scheduled business to discuss the alleged irregularities in NEET UG 2026, the nationwide student protests and to demand accountability from Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. A Rule 267 notice is a request to Chairman to pause the House's planned agenda and discuss an urgent issue instead.

AISA members Neha, Manish and Aameen have ended their 23-day hunger strike at Jantar Mantar following an appeal by a delegation of parliamentarians Manoj Jha, Rajaram Singh, Amra Ram along with Dr. Yogendra Yadav, Adv. Prashant Bhushan, Prof Atul Sood and actors Prakash Raj and Shabana Azmi. The delegation urged the students to conclude this phase of the protest, assuring them that their demands would be raised during the Parliament session. AISA has announced that it will now launch a month-long campaign against Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) is expected to adopt its draft report on the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan (VBSA) Bill, 2025, on the first day of Parliament's Monsoon Session. Once adopted, the report will pave the way for the Bill to be taken up for further consideration and passage in Parliament.

Several entry points have already been turned into high-security zones with multi-layered barricades, enhanced surveillance, anti-sabotage checks and round-the-clock patrolling in New Delhi, Central Delhi and parts of North Delhi. A senior police source told PTI that elaborate preventive arrangements have been made to ensure law and order during the Parliament session. "Every vehicle entering the New Delhi district is being thoroughly checked. Additional pickets have been set up at strategic locations, and reserve forces have been kept on standby. CCTV surveillance has also been intensified across sensitive areas," the source said.

Delhi Police is on high alert ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament and the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) proposed "Chalo Sansad" march today.Authorities have also imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS in the New Delhi district. PTI reports that the heightened vigil comes as the CJP announced the march in protest against alleged NEET irregularities and to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. 

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sachin Sharma shared a public advisory on X on Sunday, stating that "Delhi Police categorically clarifies that no permission has been sought or granted for any such protest march/procession." The prohibitory order under Section 163 BNSS (formerly Section 144 CrPC) is currently in effect in the New Delhi district, according to the DCP's post.

The three AISA members on hunger strike are set to end their fast on the 23rd day after a delegation of opposition parliamentarians, civil society members and academics appealed to them to shift the mode of protest. The delegation assured the protesters that the issues they have raised would be taken up during the Monsoon Session of Parliament as well as through protests on the streets. The delegation includes Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha, actor Prakash Raj, actor Shabana Azmi, advocate Prashant Bhushan, CPI(M) leader Amra Ram, Raja Ram and activist Yogendra Yadav.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has warned candidates against submitting fabricated, digitally altered or AI-generated NEET UG 2026 OMR answer sheets and scorecards. The warning comes after several candidates took to social media, claiming that the OMR sheets uploaded by the agency were different from the ones they had filled. Many students and their parents also gathered at Jantar Mantar and spoke to the media, alleging discrepancies in the NEET UG 2026 results.

NTA said all genuine OMR sheets and scorecards contain verifiable barcodes and QR codes linked to official records, and that every disputed case examined so far has involved forged documents. The agency cautioned that creating, possessing or circulating fake examination documents is a cognisable offence and may lead to legal action, including cancellation of candidature.

The 'Chalo Sansad' Parliament march is scheduled to begin at 9 am. Thousands of protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar will be marching towards the Parliament. The protest aims to ensure that issues related to the education sector and alleged National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) irregularities are taken up during Parliament's Monsoon Session today.

The CJP has asked participants to maintain peace and discipline during the 'Chalo Sansad' march. As part of its advisory, the organisation says protesters may carry only the national flag, a copy of the Constitution or photographs of national icons such as Dr B R Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi and Bhagat Singh. Participants have also been urged not to respond to any provocation and to ensure the march remains non-violent.

Several opposition leaders and public figures extend support to the agitation ahead of today's Parliament march. Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat and AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Sanjay Singh and Gopal Rai join the protest. Actors Shabana Azmi and Prakash Raj also visited Jantar Mantar to express solidarity with the movement.

In a latest update, the gate number 2 of Janpath metro station has been closed. Many students and a few police personnel can be seen standing outside Janpath Metro Station.

In a handwritten note from Safdarjung Hospital, Sonam Wangchuk lists three conditions for ending his hunger strike

• a. If the govt takes accountability of the recent failures in Education System – paper leaks etc.or...
• b. If I & the leadership of CJP reach the doorsteps of Parliament where Hon'ble MPs & leaders of various parties assure us that they will now take up the issue in the Parliament. or...
• c. If my health or other factors do not permit this, then the Hon'ble MPs & leaders of different parties visit this Hospital and give the above assurance.

Activist Sonam Wangchuk continues to receive treatment at Safdarjung Hospital after being shifted from the protest site on July 18. According to the latest health bulletin, he remains stable but requires round-the-clock medical supervision due to the physiological stress caused by his prolonged hunger strike. Doctors from Safdarjung Hospital and AIIMS are jointly monitoring his condition.

Delhi Police says no permission has been granted for any march towards Parliament. Authorities have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS in the New Delhi district and have clarified that demonstrations are permitted only at designated protest site at Jantar Mantar. Security personnel are deployed across Parliament Street, Central Vista, Connaught Place and other sensitive locations. 

The 'Chalo Sansad' march is scheduled on the opening day of Parliament's Monsoon Session. The CJP is demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities, reforms in the examination system. Thousands of protesters are demanding greater accountability in the education sector. Protesters will march towards Parliament from Jantar Mantar at 9 am.

The crowd at Jantar Mantar continues to increase ahead of the CJP's 'Chalo Sansad' march. The turnout has reached the thousands and is significantly larger than Sunday's gathering. Checkposts that had been placed at both ends of Jantar Mantar have also been removed, making movement towards the protest site easier as supporters continue to arrive from different parts of the country.

Security tightened at the protest site

Janpath Metro Station is operating normally, allowing protesters to reach Jantar Mantar through the Janpath side. No access restrictions have been reported at the metro station so far. Those travelling by metro, cab or other means can currently use this route to reach the protest site. Ground teams continue to monitor the situation.

One side of the protest area at Jantar Mantar was sealed at around 7 am, according to reporters on the ground. However, protesters continue to gather at the designated site ahead of the CJP's proposed 'Chalo Sansad' march to Parliament which is scheduled to begin at 9 am. More updates are awaited as security arrangements evolve around the protest venue.
