Delhi, December 17 : The Executive Committee of the Consortium of NLUs has informed that CLAT UG 2020 will have 150 objective type questions. The comprehension-based test will be set as per 12th standard, with the exception of Quantitative analysis section, which will be based on mathematics of 10th standard. The decision was taken at a meeting of the committee held on December 11, 2020.
Change is the flavor of the season, as CLAT PG 2020 will see the introduction of cut off marks for the first time. Candidates now have to score minimum 40% (35% in case of SC, ST & PWD) marks in the objective paper, only then their descriptive paper will be evaluated.
The committee has also released the full schedule of the exam, including last date for filling of CLAT 2020 application form (March 31) and declaration of result (May 24).

CLAT UG exam pattern - key points

The exam will now exam include 150 objective type questions. This is down from 200 questions that were asked until last session.

Questions will be asked from: English language, Current affairs including general knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Techniques

CLAT 2020 will be a comprehension-based test.

Comprehension-based questions will be asked from all sections.

The paper will be set according to 12th standard; however, Quantitative analysis section will include questions of 10th level mathematics
CLAT PG exam pattern - changes

Cutoff marks have been introduced

General category candidates now needs to score minimum 40% marks in the objective test. The minimum marks for SC, ST & PWD is 35%

Descriptive papers of only such candidates will be evaluated who qualify in the objective test.

The number of objective questions is 100 (same as last session).
Background
It may be recalled that the committee in its earlier release (November 21) had hinted at major changes to the CLAT 2020 exam pattern, including reduction in the number of questions to 120-150 from 200 previously. It was also decided in the meeting to include comprehension-based questions from Quantitative Techniques, English, Current Affairs, Deductive Reasoning and Logical Reasoning.
The committee had also sought a report from the Executive Council of CLAT–2020 detailing the pros and cons of introducing cutoff marks for the LLM program, which is now pushed through.
