NEW DELHI: The pause in the physical classes around the colleges and universities in India coerced by the Covid-19 pandemic finally seems to be ending soon. With the decline in Covid-19 cases around the country, several state governments are gearing up for the preparation of reopening the colleges and other educational institutions. This raises a common question in the minds of students - When will colleges reopen in India?
Telangana became the first state to lift up the Covid-19 lockdown completely and will resume the physical classes in schools and colleges from July 1 onwards. The colleges in Telangana have started special vaccination drives with an aim to vaccinate as many students as they can before reopening the colleges. Himachal Pradesh has reopened all the medical, ayurvedic, nursing, dental and pharmacy colleges around the state.

States like Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh are planning to reopen the colleges and universities, after vaccinating the students and teachers community. The state of Uttarakhand has reopened the colleges and universities for online classes after the summer vacations, from June 21 onwards.
However, there are still some states like Delhi, Haryana, Meghalaya and Kerala which are hesitant to reopen the colleges and other educational institutions, fearing the possibility of the third wave. The Bihar government is planning to open up all the educational institutions from the month of July in a phased manner.
