Coronavirus: Delhi University goes online as all colleges close Delhi University

NEW DELHI: Delhi University (DU) announced that it will make study materials available online as classes are suspended till March 31 to “prevent pandemic conditions” arising due to COVID-19 threat.

Although many universities in the US have embraced online teaching, DU became the first in India to go online.

The university , in a notice released late Thursday evening, said that to “maintain continuity in teaching-learning process” all departments will make study materials available through DU website.

It also said that “teachers... shall remain available as per time table through e resources".Internal assessments and house examinations also stand postponed till March 31, the release said.

All functions including seminars, conferences, symposiums, workshops and group activities are also cancelled. The university will take revisit these measures after March 31.

The measures come on the back of Delhi government’s decision to shut all schools, colleges and cinema halls till March 31. The government had initially shut all primary on March 5 and have since extended the order to other institutions.

India has so far recorded 73 positive cases of COVID-19.
