COVID-19: Delhi Government orders teachers to monitor dead bodies

Coronavirus: The district magistrate, North East Delhi, said that teachers are to be deployed for monitoring of dead bodies in a hospital.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government has put six teachers on duty for “monitoring of dead bodies” at a hospital in North east Delhi.

In a circular, the Office of the District Magistrate, North east Delhi, said that the teachers are “deployed for monitoring of dead bodies coordinating with GTB hospital with immediate effect.”.

The district magistrate, in the circular said: “The teachers will, according to their shift, contact the nodal officer of GTB for the purpose and ensure that COVID guidelines are being followed by rightful authorities. The above mentioned teachers will also remain in contact with DDMA Northeast authority and ensure that all calls regarding Hearse Vans be disposed of on time.”

Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, government staff, including school teachers, were made into make-shift healthline workers. In a previous order which was later revoked, the Delhi Government had put teachers on bird-flu monitoring duty and airport-duty.
