COVID-19 positive candidates can’t appear for AIBE XV (15); BCI notifies new rule

NEW DELHI: The Bar Council of India (BCI) in an official statement has said that candidates who are infected by COVID-19 or have any symptoms related to COVID-19 will not report at the examination centre of All India Bar Examination (AIBE) . The council will conduct AIBE XV (15) on January 24, 2021, in offline mode. The exam is attended by law graduates across 46 cities in India.

The candidates who test positive for COVID-19 are required to inform the test conducting agency about their inability to attend the examination. Such candidates will have to send a corona positive report via email responseteamaibe@gmail.com before the date of examination, reads the notification.

The notification adds that COVID positive candidates can request to carry forward their fee which will be considered by the monitoring committee. The outcome of the monitoring committee will be informed only after the conduct of AIBE XV (15) 2021.

It may also be noted that the helpline email given above can only be used for registering the issues related to medical and health emergencies. Other types of requests should be sent through the appropriate channels.

Last year, the BCI did not conduct AIBE due to the COVID-pandemic. And, after repeated postponement, it has now been scheduled to be held on January 24. Law graduates may also note that the council has released the application form of AIBE XVI (16) . The AIBE XVI (16) 2021 will be conducted on March 6, 2021.

About All India Bar Examination (AIBE)

All India Bar Examination, also known as Bar Council Exam, is a certification based exam. Only law graduates who are registered with the state bar council are eligible to appear in AIBE XV (15). Candidates who clear AIBE are awarded with a Certificate of Practice (CoP). The CoP is mandatory for law graduates who want to practice law in any court of law in India.
