JNU has extended COVID-19 restrictions till August 23 although essential services have been allowed as an emergency measure.

NEW DELHI: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has extended the COVID 19 restrictions again, although essential services are allowed as an emergency measure for the safety and wellbeing of people.
These restrictions will be in effect on campus premises till August 23.
All authorised shops inside the complex and standalone shops of the residential area are allowed to open between 10 am and 8 pm.
The canteens inside the campus can function maintaining a 50% capacity from 8 am to 10 pm. The canteen owners have been instructed to adhere to all social distancing norms defined by the SOP and government guidelines which include regulation sanitisation.

Sports complexes can also remain open with adherence to the Covid 19 protocols. Delivery of goods and products through online e-commerce websites allowed only with valid identification issued by the company or firm.
E-rickshaws will also be allowed inside campus with not more than two passengers.
Marriage functions and last rites are allowed but will also be subjected to Covid 19 protocols and the maximum number of attendees is capped at 100 for both. For marriages services like dj, soundsystem, tents are prohibited.
The security branch of the university is responsible for maintaining all covid appropriate behavior in the campus and the residential areas. The security branch will set up checkpoints to ensure no unnecessary movement of persons and vehicles as per the guidelines.
If any of the employees or their family members are tested positive they have to inform the administration immediately. Therefore the campus residents have been requested not to step out unnecessarily except for essentials.
