CBSE CTET likely to add Maithili as language option soon

According to several media reports, BJP MP Gopal Thakur from Darbhanga shared the development and said the process has reached a crucial stage.
He noted that once Maithili is formally notified as a CTET language, candidates whose mother tongue is Maithili will be able to take the exam in that language.
While registering for CTET exam , candidates are required to select two languages. Currently, CBSE CTET is conducted in 20 different languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Manipuri, Marathi, Bangla, Garo, Gujarati, Kannada, Khasi, Malayalam, Mizo, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Tibetan, and Urdu.

CBSE CTET 2026
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has scheduled CTET 2026 on February 8. The exam will be held in two shifts: shift one from 9:30 am to 12 and shift 2 from 2:30 pm to 5 pm. CBSE CTET 2026 admit card can be accessed on the official website, ctet.nic.in, once issued by the board. CTET paper will comprise 150 questions of 150 marks
CBSE CTET is held for aspiring candidates who teach in Classes 1 to 8 in central government schools and institutions that accept CTET scores 2026. CTET consists of two papers: Paper I for primary Classes 1 to 5 and Paper 2 for upper primary Classes 6 to 8.
