Download NowThe University of Delhi (DU) and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) have signed an agreement to provide industry-focused artificial intelligence (AI) training to students and faculty. Under the partnership, up to 10,000 students will be trained over the next year through AMD’s AI Engage Developer Program.

The programme will give DU students and faculty hands-on access to AMD’s open-source ROCm AI software platform, learning resources and developer GPU cloud credits. The initiative aims to help students gain practical experience in building, testing and deploying AI applications.
The agreement was signed today, September 3, by DU Registrar Vikas Gupta and AMD India Country Head and SVP Engineering Jaya Jagadish.

DU, AMD to provide hands-on AI training
Through the partnership, students and faculty will get access to AMD’s AI learning curriculum, technical workshops, open software tools and cloud-based GPU resources.
The programme is designed to help students move beyond learning Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts and gain practical experience with tools used for AI development. It will also support research, innovation and developer skills in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.
DU Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh welcomed the partnership and said collaboration between universities and industry is important for developing relevant skills among students.
Singh said, “Such programs are essential for building a bridge between academic institutions and the industry.” He added that the partnership with AMD is an important step towards strengthening AI education and innovation in India.
AMD aims to strengthen India’s AI talent pool
Jaya Jagadish said students need early access to the platforms and tools used in real-world AI development.
She said, “India has the talent and the ambition to lead the next wave of AI innovation . The opportunity now is to give students early access to the platforms and tools that power real-world AI development.”
She added, "Through our collaboration with the University of Delhi, we are helping students move from learning AI concepts to building AI solutions. It reflects AMD's long-term commitment to strengthening India's AI ecosystem and developing future-ready talent."
According to AMD, the initiative is part of its efforts to support India’s AI ecosystem and develop future-ready talent.

DU students to get access to AMD ROCm platform
The AI Engage Developer Program will provide students and faculty with access to AMD’s ROCm AI software platform, learning materials and GPU cloud resources for experimentation.
The collaboration will also encourage students to work on AI applications and develop practical skills through workshops and other learning activities. The initiative comes as India seeks to expand its pool of skilled professionals in artificial intelligence, semiconductors and high-performance computing.
Several DU officials attended the agreement signing ceremony, including Director, South Campus Rajni Abbi, Dean Academic K. Ratnabali, Chairperson of the DU Culture Council Anoop Lather and Dean, Faculty of Technology Sanjeev Singh.
AMD said the partnership builds on its investments in India’s technology ecosystem through academic collaborations, developer programmes and open AI innovation.
