Delhi University to form anti-ragging panel, 2 joint control rooms, install bilingual banners by July 28

The University of Delhi (UoD) has taken a series of measures to prevent ragging in the university and college campuses ahead of the induction programme for the new academic batch 2026-27. The university has decided to set up two joint control rooms, and directed its colleges, departments and hostels to establish an anti-ragging committee and vigilance squad.

The decisions on anti-ragging measures were taken during an online meeting held today with principals of DU colleges , head of the departments, hostels authorities, the DU Student Union office bearers, and the Delhi Police.

Emphasising adherence to the Supreme Court’s judgement on ragging, the university has asked all students , parents or guardians to give an undertaking at the time of admission to respective colleges, departments, centre, halls and hostels through the official web portal at antiragging.in.

Anti-ragging posters across DU colleges in English, Hindi

“Many important decisions were taken in the meeting to ensure the maintenance of discipline and the prevention of ragging in the University and College campuses. In this connection, the Colleges/Departments and Hostels have been requested to strictly enforce the rules and regulations issued from time to time, especially the provisions of Ordinances XV-B, XV-C, and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (14 of 2013),” Delhi University said in an official notification.

The central university will form the two joint control rooms, one each in the north and south campuses from July 28 till August 7.

Moreover, it will also install anti-ragging banners in bilingual (English and Hindi) at the strategic locations in North and South Campuses, University of Delhi.

“Colleges/Centres/Hostels have been requested to restrict the entry of outsiders, and to prominently display rules regarding the prohibition of ragging in their respective institutions,” it added.

“Delhi police have assured that women police in plain clothes will be deployed in the University as well as outside the premises of each college. In case of any ragging or eve-teasing, the police will take care of the offenders,” DU added.

The university also stated that special assistance by the Delhi Police will be provided to women’s colleges.
