Dharmendra Pradhan reviews vaccination status of teachers as more schools reopen

NEW DELHI: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan today reviewed the vaccination status of teachers as schools are reopening across the country. He also reviewed the vaccination status in the skilling ecosystem.

“Reviewed the vaccination progress of teaching and non-teaching personnel of schools, institutions and skill centres associated with the education and skilling ecosystem,” Dharmendra Pradhan said in a social media post.

"With rapid vaccination at-scale in the country, we are looking at a future with restored normalcy and vibrancy in our schools and other educational and skilling institutions," Pradhan added.
Pradhan has been regularly monitoring the vaccination of teaching staff and non teaching staff to ensure an enabling environment for schools to move towards reopening, an official statement said.
He stressed upon the need to restore normalcy and vibrancy in the educational institutions in wake of rapid vaccination at scale happening in the country, the statement read.
By now, a majority of states have already reopened the schools for all the classes. Over 92% of teaching staff have been vaccinated. In the institutions under the Central Government, over 96 % of teaching staff have been vaccinated, according to the statement.
On October 23, the Ministry of Education sought a tentative timeline from central universities on achieving 100% vaccination of students and staff on the day the country achieved the 1 billion vaccine dose landmark, as per reports.

In July, the universities were asked to submit details of the vaccination status of their teaching and non-teaching staff.
Recently, the Delhi government decided that schools will reopen for all students from November 1. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced that the Delhi Disaster Management Authority has allowed school reopening for all classes. However, some schools will reopen from November 15.
