Dr Ambedkar Centre of Excellence to be launched at BHU

UPSC Civil Services Examinations coaching will be provided to Scheduled Caste (SC) students under the DACE initiative by the ministry for social justice and empowerment.
NEW DELHI: Dr Ambedkar Centre of Excellence (DACE), an initiative by the ministry for social justice and empowerment to provide free coaching to Scheduled Caste (SC) students for the Union Public Services Civil Services Examinations (UPSC CSE) will be launched at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on April 22, 2022.
SC students will have access to facilities such as classrooms, a library, and high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity at the Dr Ambedkar Centre of Excellence. An entrance test will be conducted by the university to enable admission to avail of free coaching , said Vikas Trivedi, director of the Dr Ambedkar foundation
DACE will be established in about 31 central universities across India, said Trivedi. BHU is one of the universities where the DACE facility is being established to help students from the DC community to prepare for competitive exams by providing coaching classes. DACE centre will have up to 100 seats for coaching, out of which, 33 percent are reserved for eligible SC female candidates. Trivedi further informed that about Rs 75 lakh funding will be released for these centres annually by the central government through the social justice ministry. Three faculty members shall be appointed in each centre.
Classes will be held often by specialised experts and professionals at DACE. The centre will also have a curriculum and preparatory material based on the changing pattern of the UPSC civil services examinations, said a statement from BHU.

The Ambedkar Centre of Excellence will be launched by Virendra Kumar, union minister for social justice empowerment and chairman of the Dr Ambedkar Foundation, and the governor of Uttar Pradesh, Anandiben Patel. The centre is being launched by the ministry through the Ambedkar Foundation.

The special guest for the launch programme at BHU will be Anand Kumar, educator and the founder of the popular Super 30 educational group. He will share his ideas on taking coaching classes.
