DTU ‘Exploring Engineering’ programme held for students of Class 10 to 12

NEW DELHI: Delhi Technological University’s (DTU) Center for Extension and Field Outreach held a six-day "Exploring Engineering" programme for school students of Classes 10, 11, and 12 of Delhi NCR. The programme started on June 19 and continued till Saturday, June 24. The programme was held to inspire children in Delhi’s NCR to pursue a career in engineering. The programme provided experience in the world of engineering and how it can benefit society.

A total of 258 students from Classes 10, 11 and 12 representing various schools in Delhi NCR participated in the week-long initiative. These students were given hands-on exposure to the electrical, electronics and communication, computer, information technology, and design departments of DTU.

Stating the main objective of the Exploring Engineering programme, Amit Kumar Srivastava, dean of the Center for Extension and Field Outreach said: “The main objective was to motivate the students towards engineering and bring enthusiasm in the minds of the participants.”

"Like what causes a light bulb to glow, how you can send your message from one place to a long distance in a fraction of a second, how you store data etc.” he added.

Madhusudan Singh, registrar, DTU stated that the "Exploring Engineering" programme will help students choose their career option after Class 12. “Many of you can join DTU and this type of special program will help students to adapt from the school environment to the university environment,” Singh further added .
