DUSU Election 2026 Today: Voting from 8.30 am; key contenders, timings, eligibility, counting date

Voting for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) Election 2026-27 will be held today, September 18, for the posts of president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary. DUSU Polling will take place in two shifts: 8:30 am to 1 pm for day classes and 3 pm to 7:30 pm for evening classes.

The DUSU vote counting will be held tomorrow, September 19, from 8 am onwards at the Multipurpose Hall, University Sports Stadium, North Campus, University of Delhi. Entry to the DUSU vote counting venue will be through Gate No. 2. Colleges, departments and institutions have been asked to send the EVMs to the counting venue immediately after polling.

The university has appointed Raj Kishore Sharma, Department of Chemistry, as Chief Election Officer and Rajesh Singh, University Librarian, as Chief Returning Officer for the DUSU Election 2026-27 .

DUSU Election 2026: Key candidates

A total of 20 candidates have been provisionally found eligible to contest the four central posts. The candidate list includes seven candidates for president, five for vice-president, four for secretary and four for joint secretary.

DUSU Election 2026: President candidates

For the president post, the candidates are Ananya Raturi, Ashmit Kumar, Ejaj Mansuri, Samarth Beniwal, Sameer Kumar, Vijay Shankar Meena and Yash Dabas.

DUSU Election 2026: Vice-President candidates

The candidates contesting for Vice-President are Aranya Singh Rathore, Deepanshu Shokeen, Ishu Maurya, Vir Chatrath and Akshat Shikhar.

DUSU Election 2026: Secretary candidates

For the secretary post, the candidates are Namrata Chaudhary, Pankaj Kumar, Riya Chhawdi and Stanzin Deskyong.

DUSU Election 2026: Joint-secretary candidates

The joint-secretary post will see a contest between B Parijat, Gopal Choudhary, Lakshay Raj Singh and Vishesh Yadav.

DUSU Election 2026: Voting timings

Students will be able to cast their votes according to their class timings. The DUSU polling schedule is as follows:

• Day classes: 8:30 am to 1 pm
• Evening classes: 3 pm to 7:30 pm

Students admitted to the respective colleges, departments or institutions on or before September 9, 2026, at 5 pm will be eligible to vote in the DUSU election 2026-27.

DUSU Election 2026: Documents required to vote

Second- and third-year students will be allowed to vote in the DUSU election 2026 if they carry a valid college identity card. Students who have not been issued a college I-card may be permitted to vote after verification of their original verified fee receipt for the current academic year along with a valid government-issued ID.

For first-year students who have not yet received their I-cards, the university's notification lists a verified fee receipt, bonafide certificate with a passport-size photograph and one government-issued identity card among the documents used for verification.
