The education ministry also said that the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), which contains the major portions of the NEP 2020, will be developed in 2021-22.
NEW DELHI : The Ministry of Education, in a statement released on Monday, said that a plan created by its department of school education and literacy to implement the National Education Policy, 2020, ‘in a phased manner’ is being finalised.
The education ministry had prepared a task-list last year which was shared with states, Union Territories and autonomous bodies in September 2020 for them to provide feedback till October 12, 2020. The ministry said that state departments of 31 states and union territories provided more than 7,000 suggestions or feedback on the task list that are now being incorporated.
The ministry also said that the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), a major recommendation in the NEP 2020, will be developed in 2021-22 and that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is planning exam reforms which include holding English and Sanskrit exams at two levels.
“The major portions of NEP will be covered under the new National Curriculum Framework (NCF) and centrally sponsored schemes. Groundwork for NCF is initiated and it is likely to be developed in the next academic session, that is 2021-22.”
NEP 2020: Education scheme
The education ministry said that it is aligning existing schemes such as the Samagra Shikhsa Abhiyan with the NEP.
“The department is also aligning its existing schemes...with the recommendations of NEP 2020. 86 paras of NEP have been proposed to be covered or integrated under the revised scheme of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.” Covering primary and secondary school education, the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan is the main scheme introduced to universalise school education.
The ministry has also invited suggestions for the draft of learning outcomes for senior secondary level.
