Education Minister Live Webinar: There have been demands for postponement of Class 10 and Class 12 CBSE exams.
NEW DELHI: Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ will hold a live interaction with students and parents today from 10 AM. Through the discussion, Pokhriyal will address concerns related to upcoming competitive and board exams. He is expected to discuss Central Board of Secondary Education’s Class 10 and Class 12 CBSE board exam dates, engineering entrance exams, JEE Main 2021 syllabus and date, and the same for medical entrance test, NEET 2021.
There have been demands for postponement of Classes 10 and 12 board examinations which are usually slated for February- March. However, the COVID-19 pandemic is far from over and no schedule has been announced for any of these exams. Students are also demanding postponement of JEE Main and NEET 2021. The syllabus for these exams is also a cause for concern as several school boards, including the CBSE, have docked their syllabus for the 2020-21 academic year because of the loss of teaching hours caused by the pandemic.
Announcing the webinar, Pokhriyal wrote on Twitter last week: “Students, we know you have tons of questions related to upcoming competitive/board exams! In order to make sure that we cover most of your concerns, we have decided to extend the date of the webinar to Dec 10. Till then keep sharing your concerns using #EducationMinisterGoesLive!”
Pokhriyal on November 26, requested students, parents and teachers, to submit their concerns regarding the conduct of board and competitive exams in 2021. The education minister announced that all the competitive and board exams would be conducted next year, 2021 only after proper consultation with students, teachers and parents.
