GATE 2025 Cut off: Difference between GATE marks and score
In the GATE exam, the terms marks and score serve different purposes. The GATE marks are obtained out of 100 by calculating the number of questions and their marks. GATE marks are raw scores, calculated based on the number of correct answers provided by the candidate, with each question carrying a specific mark. Negative marking is applied for incorrect responses, which affects the overall score.
The GATE score is a normalised score calculated out of 1,000. GATE marks are used to calculate the GATE score and used for the admissions process. GATE scores are the main factor that determines the eligibility, ranking, and seat allocation during the admission process.
