Try NowGATE 2026 : The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati will commence the registration for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 today, August 28. Interested and eligible aspirants will be able to apply for the exam on the GATE 2026 official website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in. As per the schedule, GATE 2026 registration last date without a late fee is September 28.
GATE registration 2026 process comprises steps such as filling of application form, uploading of documents, selection of two GATE papers and three examination cities, and payment of application fee. Candidates are advised to ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria before applying to the exam.
IITG will conduct GATE 2026 on February 7, 8, 14, and 15 for admission to postgraduate engineering programmes offered by the IITs, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru, and other participating institutes. The exam will be held as a computer-based test for 30 test papers.
GATE 2026 eligibility criteria
Students who are currently studying in the third or higher years of any undergraduate programme or who have completed any government-approved degree programme in engineering/ technology/ architecture/ science/ commerce/ arts/ humanities are eligible to appear for GATE 2026.

Aspirants pursuing an undergraduate degree from countries other than India are also eligible to apply.

Documents required for GATE registration 2026 are mentioned below.
- High quality photograph of candidate as per required specifications
- High quality signature of candidate as per required specifications
- Scanned copy of caste certificate in PDF format, if applicable
- Scanned copy of PwD certificate in PDF format, if applicable
- Scanned copy of valid photo ID in PDF format from one of the following: Aadhar-UID, passport, PAN card, voter ID, or Driving License.
