Gujarat Election 2022: Of 788 candidates, 37 are illiterate, 53 just literate, finds ADR report

Gujarat Assembly Election 2022: 3 candidates are doctorate, 34 are post graduate, 94 are 12th pass, 21 diploma, 142 10th pass, 146 8th pass, and 110 5th pass.
NEW DELHI : With Gujarat Assembly Election 2022 approaching its dates, the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has analyzed the educational background along with financial, criminal, gender backgrounds of the 788 candidates contesting for the elections. Gujarat election 2022 will be conducted from December 1 to 5, 2022.
According to the ADR report, 37 candidates are illiterate while 53 candidates have declared themselves to be just literates.

“492(62%) candidates have declared their educational qualifications to be between 5th and 12th standard while 185 (23%) candidates have declared having an educational qualification of graduate or above. 21 candidates are Diploma holders. 53 candidates have declared themselves to be just literate and 37 candidates are illiterate,” read the ADR report.

According to the ADR report, the overall educational qualification of 788 candidates in Goa election 2022 is given below:

The Association recommended that the Election Commission of India and all State Election Commissions should make it mandatory in all elections to carry display boards outside every polling booth showing a summarized version of candidates’ affidavits. The polling booths should essentially display details of the candidate's criminal records, assets, liabilities and education qualification.
