Happy Gandhi Jayanti 2022: President, PM Modi, institutes pay tribute to father of the nation

NEW DELHI: Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated every year across the country to commemorate the birth anniversary of the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi. From President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to schools and colleges, everyone is paying tribute to MK Gandhi in their own way today.

President Murmu shared a message on social media and said, “On the occasion of the 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, I pay homage to the Father of the Nation on behalf of all fellow citizens.”

PM Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Gandhi Jayanti 2022 at Rajghat.

“Paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi on #GandhiJayanti. This Gandhi Jayanti is even more special because India is marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. May we always live up to Bapu’s ideals. I also urge you all to purchase Khadi and handicrafts products as a tribute to Gandhi Ji,” the Prime Minister said in another tweet. Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan tweeted, “In the era of oppression, Mahatma Gandhi became the voice of the weak. He courageously defied the British and fought for the lives and liberty of Indians. His teachings continue to inspire us. On his Jayanti today, I pay homage to the revered Saint of Sabarmati.”

Jamia Millia Islamia held a book exhibition and organised a lecture to celebrate the birth anniversary of Gandhi ji. “On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti a book exhibition was today inaugurated by Professor Mohd Shakeel, Offg VC at Dr Zakir Husain Library. A lecture on Mahatma Gandhi was also delivered by Professor Farhat Nasreen,” JMI tweeted.
