Haryana schools to remain shut today in view of ex-CM Chautala's demise
Haryana Schools Closed: The state is observing a three-day mourning period in view of of ex-chief minister Om Prakash Chautala's demise.

NEW DELHI: The Haryana government has declared a holiday in all schools on Saturday as the state is observing a three-day mourning period in view of of ex-chief minister Om Prakash Chautala's demise. The state government declared a three-day state mourning in this regard from December 20 to 22.
It has also declared Saturday a public holiday in all the state government offices as a mark of respect to the departed soul. Chautala, who was also president of Indian National Lok Dal, passed away in Gurugram on Friday at the age of 89.
After the government declared a three-day state mourning and a holiday in state government offices, the state's Directorate of School Education issued an order in the evening declaring a holiday in all schools of the state on December 21.

3- day state mourning till December 22
"As per the fax message received from the Chief Secretary, Govt. of Haryana dated December 20, the State has decided to observe 3-days mourning in view of the death of Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala, Ex-Chief Minister, Haryana on December 20. The Haryana Govt. has declared a public holiday in all the State Offices as a mark of respect to the departed Soul", Directorate School Education Govt of Haryana official notice read.
Accordingly, a holiday is declared in all the schools of the state on December 21. All DEOS and DEEOs are requested to ensure the compliance of the above orders", the notice added.
The last rites of Om Prakash Chautala will be performed with state honours on December 21 in Sirsa. Om Prakash Chautala passed away on Friday at his residence in Gurugram and he had served as Haryana's chief Minister for five terms.
