IGNOU introduces online courses in agriculture; apply at ignou.ac.in

NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced a series of online courses focusing on emerging fields within agriculture. Interested candidates can apply for IGNOU online agriculture courses through the official website, ignou.ac.in. According to the official announcement, the programmes include 16 offerings at various levels in the field of agriculture.

The programmes will be offered in the form of certificates (six months), diplomas, postgraduate certificates, postgraduate diplomas, and master's degrees.

These online courses includes subjects such as Dairy Farming, Organic Farming, Beekeeping, Poultry Production, Sericulture, Agriculture Policy, Agricultural Cost Management, Water and Watershed Management, Dairy Technology, Meat Technology, Value-Added Products from Fruits and Vegetables, Horticulture, Agribusiness, and Food Safety and Quality Management.

As per the officials, the programmes in agricultural and related fields offer students with a variety of employment options. These courses will give students useful skills that are in high demand in the agro-food sector.

These programmes also provide vital skills needed to participate in agri-start-up ventures such as organic farming, contract farming, farmers' producers' enterprises, management, processing, and marketing of agri-inputs.

Among its 21 schools of study, the School of Agriculture at IGNOU is committed to developing employable skills in its stakeholders, who include farmers, young people living in rural areas, technicians, and farmwomen. The school aims to enhance livelihoods in agriculture and related areas through Open and Distance Learning.

Meanwhile, IGNOU will close the re-registration for all programmes offered in ODL, online mode for the January 2024 session on February 29. Candidates seeking admission in ODL programmes can register at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in and candidates who want to enrol in online mode programme can register at ignouiop.samarth.edu.in.
