IGNOU launches PG diploma in environmental studies for July 2023 session

Indira Gandhi National Open University will grant lateral entry to MA Environmental Studies students in the programme.
NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has announced the launch of a postgraduate (PG) diploma programme in environmental studies from the July 2023 academic session. The application form, details on the new course is available on the IGNOU admission official website, ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
The institute said students of MA Environmental Studies will be granted lateral entry into the programme, which "aims to generate awareness on a wide variety of environmental concerns". “In order to address the environmental challenges induced by anthropogenic activities there is a need for developing a knowledgeable workforce in the areas such as climate change, pollution, waste management, sanitation, conservation of biological diversity, management of biological resources, forest and wildlife conservation, and sustainable development,” the statement added.

It further said that the programme would give valuable insights to the students with the necessary means and capacities to engage in environment assessment, propose sustainable solutions and contribute towards policies for environmental planning and sustainable development.
Recently, the IGNOU introduced new MSc programmes in physics (MSCPH), applied statistics (MSCAST), Geography (MSCGG), and Geo-informatics (MSCGI).
The university has also extended the re-registration deadline for the July 2023 session till July 15. Candidates can re-register for the online, and online and distance learning (ODL) programmes on the official website ignou.ac.in.
The re-registration process started on May 8 and initially the last date to apply was June 15. The candidates will have to login into the student portal by entering their username, password and captcha code for re-registration.
