IIM Kashipur launches Uttarakhand Cell to boost agricultural development; self-discipline as key to success

IIM Kashipur: Agreements were signed by GB Pant University, Kumaun University, and Uttarakhand Technical University for the inauguration of the cell.
NEW DELHI : The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur hosts the inauguration of ‘Uttarakhand Cell’ on its campus today, October 8. The inauguration of the cell was attended by Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd). He delivered a speech emphasising the significance of willpower, self-control, and self-discipline as key success mantras for India's youth, the IIM Kashipur statement said.
Through partnership collaboration, the new cell aims to boost sectors such as agriculture, wellness, honey production, and spiritual tourism, with an emphasis on empowering farmers and women.
The cell will also address the logistical challenges and enhance education through collaborations with local universities, while a state government nominee will ensure alignment with Uttarakhand's development goals, the IIM Kashipur statement added.
IIM Kashipur Institute will contribute to marketing state products and establish Uttarakhand as a brand. The logistic issues will also be addressed in collaboration with the state government.

IIM Kashipur collaboration
As per the IIM Kashipur statement, three agreements were signed GB Pant University, Kumaun University, and Uttarakhand Technical University.
ManMohan Singh Chauhan, vice chancellor of Govind Ballabh Pant Agriculture and Technical University, Pantnagar addressed the gathering emphasizing the top priority for state development including farmer welfare and women empowerment.
Dewang Singh Rawat, vice chancellor of Kumaun University, expressed his happiness about the agreement with IIM Kashipur and mentioned that it will motivate students and faculty.
Onkar Singh, vice chancellor of Uttarakhand Technical University also offered IIM Kashipur to use their premises of the Dehradun campus until IIM Kashipur has its campus constructed.
“Professor Somnath Chakrabarti, director-in-charge of IIM Kashipur, highlighted the institute's focus on regional development, the welfare of people, Ayurveda, the homestay campaign, and vibrant villages. He mentioned that management principles will be applied to solve the problem of ghost villages and improve SHGs (self-help groups),” the IIM Kashipur note added.
