IIM Rohtak team wins BIMTECH competition; over 250 students join national-level event

The Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), Greater Noida, recently hosted the sixth edition of its flagship event, Hermes’ Dialogue, organised by the PGDM-International Business programme. The event brought together students from leading B-schools for discussions on global issues.

This year, the top honour went to Team LeBroom from IIM Rohtak, while Team Magnus from FORE school of management secured second place. Team Strategy from Shri Ram college of commerce finished as the second runners-up.

The theme for this edition was “should countries prioritize energy independence to ensure global energy security amid rising geopolitical uncertainty?”, reflecting the growing importance of energy as both an economic and geopolitical concern.

IIM Rohtak team wins top prize at Hermes’ Dialogue 6.0

The competition drew participation from top institutes across the country, with over 250 registrations. Students went through multiple rounds that tested not just their knowledge, but also their ability to analyse and respond to complex global challenges.

The winning team from IIM Rohtak impressed the jury with its clear thinking, structured arguments, and strong grasp of the topic, especially during the final round.

Adding an international flavour, participants represented 12 countries, including India, the US, China, Germany, Brazil, and Japan, making the discussions more diverse and engaging.

Teams from several reputed institutions made it to the final stages, including IIM Udaipur, IIM Rohtak, BIMTECH, Shri Ram College of Commerce, IIT Patna, International Management Institute, FORE School of Management, and Great Lakes Institute of Management.

The competition began with an online assessment on Unstop, followed by a case submission round where teams had to present well-researched solutions.

In the final round, participants stepped into the shoes of different countries and debated their positions on energy independence. The format was designed to resemble discussions seen at global platforms like the United Nations and G20.

The final round was judged by a panel of experts, including Rajeev Kher, former commerce secretary, and Sumanta Chaudhuri, principal advisor for international trade policy at CII.

Participants were evaluated on their understanding of global trade, policy-making, and diplomatic thinking; skills that are becoming increasingly important in today’s interconnected world.

With a total prize pool of Rs 60,000, the event recognised top-performing teams while also giving students a platform to engage with real-world global issues.
