IIMA Placement: All 388 students placed, 131 recruiters participated

NEW DELHI: All 388 students at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad bagged internship offers in the recently concluded summer placement season.

A total of 131 firms offered 166 different roles in the summer placement process conducted for the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management.

IIM-Ahmedabad follows a “cluster-cohort” based hiring process where companies offering similar profiles are grouped into cohorts.

The summer placement at IIM-A was conducted entirely in virtual mode due to the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown. Companies from multiple sectors hired students in more than 20 cohorts in the virtual placement drive. Bain & Company with 20 offers emerged as the top recruiter followed by Boston Consulting Group with 19 offers.

Students were also given the opportunity to make “dream” applications to the company of their choice across cohorts even with an offer in hand.

“More than 150 students made over 202 dream applications this year. This gave students the flexibility and choice to build careers in sectors of their preference,” an IIMA official statement said.

IIM Ahmedabad placement offers

In the consulting sector, a total of 104 students bagged job offers. Recruiters like Accenture Strategy, Alvarez & Marsal, Arthur D Little, Arete Advisors, Auctus Advisors, Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group, GEP Consulting, etc participated.

The highest number of offers were also made in the consulting and management sector by Bain & Company with 20 offers, followed by Boston Consulting Group with 19 offers. In the advisory consulting domain, PwC made the maximum offers – 10 and in the Niche Consulting sector, GEP made the highest offers – 7.

In the consumer goods and services domain, 83 students were placed. This sector saw the participation of companies like AB InBev, Airtel, Asian Paints, Coca-Cola, Colgate, Dabur, HUL, ITC, Kimberly Clark, Lenovo, Mondelez, Nestle, P&G, Puma, Reckitt Benckiser, Samsung Electronics, Tata Sky and Wipro Consumer Care among others.

With 77 students being placed, technology and internet sector emerged as the third most popular sector to have made offers in IIMA placement. Frms like Info Edge, People Interactive, Razorpay and PayU. Enterprise Tech consisted of companies like Adobe, Atlassian Corporation, Intel, Microsoft, Oracle and Sprinklr participated in this cohort.

In the financial services sector, 75 students bagged internship offers, 35 students were placed in various conglomerates and 14 students got internship offers from new recruiters in the pharmaceutical industry, renewable energy and infrastructure.

Top recruiters at IIMA placement

Edelweiss Wealth Management was the highest recruiter in the investment banking and marketing cohort with 10 offers. True North emerged as the highest recruiter in the PE/VC and asset management cohort with 4 offers.

Hindustan Unilever extended the most offers -13, followed by Samsung Electronics with six offers and Airtel with five offers in the consumer goods and services cohort.

With 7 offers, TAS was the largest recruiter in the conglomerates’ cohort. The e-commerce giant, Amazon emerged as the top recruiter with 14 offers in the retail B2B & B2C domain.

In the IT Consulting cohort, Tata Consultancy Services was the largest recruiter with 15 offers. Vedanta was the highest recruiter in the core manufacturing and infrastructure cohort with six offers. Unacademy, a new recruiter, participated in the education and tech sector and gave nine internship offers.
