Download EBookThe IISER Joint Admission Committee (JAC) will close the registration window for the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2026 on April 13, 2026. Candidates can apply on the official website of IISER at iiseradmission.in. This test is conducted for admission to the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs).
After the application window closes, candidates can make the corrections in their forms between April 16 and April 18. The admit cards will be released on May 24, and the exam is scheduled to be held on June 7, 2026, in computer-based mode from 9 am to 12 pm.
In a major update this year, IAT scores will also be considered for select undergraduate programmes at institutions like Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), and IIEST Shibpur.

IAT 2026: Exam pattern and marking scheme
The IAT 2026 exam will be conducted in computer-based mode at centres across the country. It will include 60 multiple-choice questions, with 15 questions each from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.
Candidates will have three hours to complete the exam. Each correct answer carries 4 marks, while 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. There is no penalty for unanswered questions, and the total marks for the exam will be 240.
IAT 2026: Steps to apply
To apply for the IAT 2026, applicants can follow the steps given below:

Visit the official website of IISER admissions 2026 at iiseradmission.in.

On the homepage, go to the ‘Apply for IAT-2026” and then register.

Now, login by using the user id and password.

Finish the application form by uploading the required documents, make the payment, and then submit.

Download the confirmation page and take a printout for further reference.

IAT 2026: Courses offered
Through IAT 2026, candidates can get admission in the programmes that include 5-year BS-MS dual degree courses at IISERs, along with a range of other subjects. These include computational and data sciences at IISER Kolkata, and new courses in geology and environmental sciences at IISER Mohali.
IISER Bhopal and IISER Tirupati also offer 4-year BS and B.Tech programmes. These options allow students to study subjects like science, data science, economics, and engineering in a research-based learning environment.
