Education ministry opens applications for IIT Delhi director’s post

The ministry of education has opened applications for the post of director at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi). Interested candidates can send their documents to the education ministry through registered or speed post by October 31.

Applicants should have a PhD with first class or equivalent in the preceding degree, and have at least 10 years’ teaching experience as a professor at a reputed engineering or technology institute or university.

They should also possess five years of administrative experience, guiding PhD students, as per the eligibility norms.

The director’s post at IIT Delhi has a fixed pay of Rs 2.25 lakh per month plus allowances, and will serve as the academic and administrative head of the institute.

“Candidates should preferably be below 60 years. Applications, with prescribed documents, must reach the Ministry through Registered or Speed Post by 31 October 2026. Visit dohe.education.gov.in for details,” according to the official notification.

The higher education department in the education ministry also stated that the applicant should have an outstanding academic record and experience guiding PhD students.

Candidates should preferably be below 60 years of age as on the closing date for applications, it added.

In addition, IIT Madras also invited applications for the post of its director on September 7, and the education ministry also opened applications for the director’s post at IIT Indore.

Currently, professor Rangan Banerjee is the director of IIT Delhi.
