The objective of the special admission drive was to fill the tentative vacant PhD seats for candidates belonging to SC, and ST categories, the engineering institute said.
As per the eligibility criteria for hostel accommodation, Undergraduate (UG), Master of Science (MSc) or Master of Applications (MA) students may be allotted seats on priority (sharing basis only), IIT Delhi said in an official notification.
IIT Delhi's 'severe' hostel crunch
“There is a severe hostel crunch in the campus due to which it is NOT possible to provide hostel accommodation to postgraduate (PG) students (including PhD). However, the Institute strives to provide a hostel seat (on sharing basis only), if available, to admitted female students, students with special needs (SwD - Students with Disabilities, formally admitted as PwD) and foreign nationals,” the institute said.
However, the offer of admission at IIT Delhi does not guarantee on-campus accommodation, it added. The institute will provide the contact information of some off-campus accommodation within walking distance of the campus.
“Please note that these off-campus accommodations, if available, operate independent of IIT Delhi. Further, while staying off-campus, there are provisions for making one of our on-campus messes available to students for food on a monthly subscription basis,” it said.
In addition, the institute has also notified that it will issue the admission brochure for MBA admissions soon on its official website.
