IIT Hyderabad to offer Sanskrit certificate programme ‘Prathama-diksha’
IIT Hyderabad has announced to offer Sanskrit course for candidates with no prerequisites. The applications close on October 10, 2022.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH), in collaboration with Central Sanskrit University (CSU), establishes a non-formal Sanskrit education center (NFSE) at the IITH campus. This Sanskrit course ‘Prathama-diksha’ offered by IITH is open to everyone, including students, staff, faculty, and even people outside IIT Hyderabad. The application window closes on October 10, 2022.
The fee for the entire course is Rs 1,000, which includes study material, textbooks. There are no prerequisites for applying to the course. Applicants who do not have a basic knowledge of the language can also register for the Sanskrit course offered by IIT Hyderabad.
There is no limitation to the number of applicants, the institute said. The classes will be conducted at the IITH campus, however, timings will be decided on the basis of the convenience of the students.
The institute will also be organising an introductory session for candidates. Instructor Avijit Ghosh will lead the session to clarify doubts regarding the course. To attend the introductory session applicants will have to fill in a GoogleDoc to receive an invitation email and further instructions.
“As Sanskrit is the gateway to ancient Indian Knowledge, courses like Prathama-diksha play a critical role in achieving this goal”, Budarahu Srinivasa Murty, Director, IITH said.
