IIT Jammu: JEE Advanced 2026 qualifiers seeking an alternative degree beyond traditional BTech courses can apply for the new 'unified engineering' programme
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu has introduced a new ‘unified engineering’ course for BTech aspirants. JEE Advanced 2026 qualifiers, looking beyond traditional courses, can apply for admission to the new BTech unified engineering course.
IIT Jammu’s new engineering programme offers a redesigned curriculum focusing on practical based learning allowing students to solve complex and real-world problems.
During the programme, candidates will be prepared for cross-functional roles in various fields such as systems engineers, product development engineers, automation specialists and AI.
“The curriculum shifts away from traditional rote learning towards a hands-on, modern education,” the official IIT Jammu press release said.
While talking about the new course launch, Navneet Kumar the programme chair, UE at IIT Jammu said: We wanted to create a program where learning feels like an active engineering experience rather than a classroom chore. Unified Engineering is built to give students the mindset, skills and adaptability they need to lead the next generation of tech innovation.”

IIT Jammu’s new BTech course
The key features of the new BTech unified engineering courses are as follows.

Learning with Generative AI : Students will get to experience a ‘future-ready’ learning environment where cutting-edge AI tools become their learning companions.

Challenge-driven, hands-on education : Students can immerse themselves in a ‘Grand Challenge’ framework that focuses on teamwork, innovation and real-world impact.

Master the technologies shaping future : Learners will gain expertise in new domains including artificial intelligence, intelligent systems, robotics, smart mobility, electric vehicles and sustainable energy technologies
Recently, IIT Mandi introduced new BTech in quantum science course for engineering aspirants.
According to the official IIT Jammu press release, the programme is supported by IIT Jammu’s placement network and its upcoming innovation park, ensuring students get direct exposure to startups, research opportunities and top global companies, including Amazon, Samsung, Intel, Siemens, ABB, Nokia, TCS, IBM, Dell Technologies, Flipkart, HP, and Hitachi Energy.
