IIT Madras, Renault Nissan to offer more internships, placement opportunities for BS students

The highlight of the collaboration include providing IIT Madras students with real-world exposure through mentorship, viva sessions led by senior professionals from Renault Nissan Tech.
NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is partnering with Renault Nissan Technology and Business Centre India Pvt Ltd (Renault Nissan Tech) for talent development and innovation. Through this partnership, IIT Madras will launch more internships and placement opportunities for IIT Madras BS Degree students, being pursued by 35,000 students.
This collaboration will create a robust framework for fostering talent development and knowledge exchange. The partnership aims to enhance the academic experience of IIT Madras students by offering mentorship programs, viva sessions, and leadership talks led by experts from Renault Nissan Tech.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this collaboration was signed on November 15, 2024 at IIT Madras. This MoU was signed in the presence of key figures from both institutions, including Professor Prathap Haridoss, Dean (Academic Courses), IIT Madras, Debashis Neogi, Managing Director of Renault Nissan Tech, and Professor Andrew Thangaraj, Chair, Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE), IIT Madras.
Welcoming this partnership, Prathap Haridoss, Dean (Academic Courses), IIT Madras, said, “We are extremely happy to sign this MoU with Renault Nissan Tech. This is a shining example of IIT Madras’ vision to build bridges between the academic and corporate worlds. Together, Renault Nissan Tech and IIT Madras are setting a benchmark for collaborationin terms of the variety of engagements enabled. We look forward to more such engagements with the corporate sector.”

Knowledge enhancement for Renault Nissan Tech employees
Through this partnership, Renault Nissan Tech employees will gain access to IIT Madras' Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE) programs. These programs include:
- Web-enabled MTech Degree Programs
- Executive Education Certificate Programs
- NPTEL courses
Looking forward to this collaboration, Debashis Neogi, Managing Director, Renault Nissan Tech, said, “This MoU with IIT Madras reinforces our shared vision of creating an ecosystem that empowers students, upskills professionals, and addresses the dynamic challenges of the automotive and technology landscape. Together, we are shaping industry leaders and solutions of tomorrow.”
Strengthening existing collaboration
This collaboration strengthens the existing association between Renault Nissan Tech and IIT Madras as:
- Engagement with IIT Madras BS students through Renault Nissan Tech’s senior professionals who volunteered 140+ hours as Viva examiners for Machine Learning Practice Project (at diploma level) and leadership talk on ‘Explainable AI’
- Offered internship to three students which got converted to full-time positions at Renault Nissan Tech
- IIT Madras faculty participation in ‘Living with AI’ panel discussion hosted by Renault Nissan Tech.
- Over 300+ Renault Nissan Tech professionals have taken IITM CODE programs in eMobility, 3D Printing, Supply Chain, Machine Learning, AI, HR Analytics, and others.
- Merit-cum-means scholarship to 300 students with annual family income of less than Rs 5Lacs per annum.
