IIT Roorkee launches EV programme for BTech graduates, diploma holders, working professionals

The IIT Roorkee's EV technology programme will provide hands-on learning, live online instructional sessions, practical lab exposure, structured assignments, and projects based on real-world EV use cases.
The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) has partnered with SkyySkill Academy and launched a programme in Electric Vehicle (EV) technology. The programme is designed for engineering graduates, diploma holders, and working professionals. The objective of the EV programme is to build practical, job-ready skills for the growing electric mobility sector.
The IIT Roorkee-led EV programme will include topics such as EV architecture, battery technologies and battery-management systems, electric motors and power electronics, EV charging infrastructure, diagnostics, safety systems and vehicle energy optimisation, according to an official press release.
The EV programme's curriculum involves academic rigor with hands-on learning, live online instructional sessions , practical lab exposure, structured assignments, and projects based on real-world EV use cases.

“Each participant will complete a capstone project to demonstrate applied problem-solving and develop an industry-relevant portfolio for roles in manufacturing, R&D, and EV service ecosystems,” according to an official press release.
Participants who will successfully complete the program and assessments, will receive a certificate from E and ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee.
Himansu Sekhar Panda, CEO of SkyySkill Academy, said: “There should be strong academic–industry collaborations in preparing a skilled workforce for emerging technologies. Electric mobility is rapidly transforming the automotive sector, and through the partnership with E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee, the aim is to deliver high-quality, practice-oriented learning programs to equip learners for careers in the EV industry.”
Highlighting the importance of skilled labour with knowledge and expertise, Sanjeev Manhas, Chief Investigator, E and ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee, said: “The rapid growth of electric mobility requires a skilled workforce with strong technical knowledge and practical expertise. Through this collaboration with SkyySkill Academy, E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee aims to strengthen industry–academia engagement and equip learners with relevant skills to support India’s evolving EV ecosystem.”
