International Women’s Day 2023: How IITs, IIMs, universities are celebrating this year

International Women’s Day 2023: The theme of this year is DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.
NEW DELHI : The world is celebrating International Women’s Day 2023 today, March 8, to commemorate the social, economical, cultural and political achievements of women. The first International Women's Day was marked by over a million people in countries like Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland on March 19, 1911. The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.
United Nations’ 67th annual Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67), an annual gathering on gender equality and women’s empowerment, is being held between March 6 and 17 under the theme, “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”.
International Women’s Day celebrations
Punjabi University’s Department of Education and Community Services organized a speech competition on International Women's Day in association with the Center for Women's Studies. The competition was on the theme of 'gender equality'.

The university's centre for women’s studies will also be celebrating the event on March 10 with Preeti Chawla, ex-vicechairperson of Haryana state commission for women.
On the occasion of International Women's Day and Holi, Lucknow University did celebrations in Nivedita Women's Hostel where women employees of all departments and women hostels were honored by vice chancellor Professor Alok Rai's wife, Sangeeta Rai.
