A bench of Justices B R Gavai and Augustine George Masih will hear the pleas by JEE Advanced 2025 aspirants challenging the revision of the JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria by the Joint Admission Board (JAB).
Petitioners argued that the board changed the JEE Advanced eligibility criteria in an ‘arbitrary manner’. "The JAB, vide its press release dated November 5, 2024, first fixed the permissible number of attempts for JEE Advanced at three, only to change it abruptly vide another press release dated November 18, 2024, and thereby reducing the number of attempts to two,” the petition read.
The petitioners’ counsel said that the sudden changes in the eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced 2025 have affected several IIT aspirants, denying them the opportunity to enter the premier institutes.
Earlier, 22 candidates filed a plea against JAB for introducing three attempts in the entrance exam and later reducing the number to two. The board’s decision has left several candidates in lurch, who dropped out of BTech programmes and joined JEE Advanced coaching to give it another try.
