The Joint Entrance Examination Main 2026 (JEE Mains) Session 2 for BTech admissions will begin from tomorrow and will continue till April 8. The JEE Mains 2026 session 2 day 1 shift 1 will be held from 9 am to 12 noon. JEE Main Session 2 will be held in CBT mode at 566 centres across 304 cities in India and 14 abroad for about 11.23 lakh candidates.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the exams, will hold the entrance tests for BArch and BPlanning on April 7. The final rank list will be drawn up on the basis of both sessions, and the top 2.5 lakh candidates will be eligible to write the JEE Advanced. The NTA will conduct the JEE Mains 2026 session 2 exams for Paper 1 (BTech) on April 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8, while Paper 2 (BArch and BPlanning) tests will take place on April 7. The Session 2 exams gives those who didn’t write the January exams or are unsatisfied with their performance another chance at improving their JEE Mains 2026 scores. The JEE Mains 2026 Session 1 had 12 toppers, all with 100 percentile scores. There was no rank list.

The computer-based JEE Mains 2026 session 2 exams will be held in two shifts, each lasting 3 hours. The first shift will be conducted from 9 am to 12 noon, while the afternoon shift will take place from 3 pm to 6 pm.
The NTA has issued the JEE Mains 2026 session 2 admit cards for the April 2 to 8 exams on its official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates can download the JEE Main exam hall tickets by entering their login credentials, such as application number and password.
As per the JEE Mains exam pattern, the JEE Mains 2026 session 2 question paper will have a total of 75 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) across three sections - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Candidates will be awarded four marks for each correct response, whereas one mark will be deducted for each wrong answer, the marking scheme.
According to expert analysis of JEE Mains 2026 Session 1 as well as candidates’ reactions, the question paper difficulty level was moderate, and exams were often described as lengthy and time-consuming.
The JEE Mains Mathematics section was judged to be the toughest, while Chemistry was scoring and NCERT-based.
Physics, on the other hand, was easy to moderate in difficulty. Students said that the Physics section was manageable with questions on conceptual and numerical problems from various topics such as Optics, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Modern Physics and Mechanics.
Over 13 lakh candidates appeared for the JEE Mains 2026 session 1 examination.
NTA will calculate the final All India Rank (AIR) and percentile for 2026 on the best of the two sessions, and the highest percentile will be considered.
Only 2.5 lakh candidates will qualify for the JEE Mains 2026 session 2 exams for JEE Advanced. Here are the expected cut-offs for admission to various IITs.
