JEE Main 2026 Registration: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will close the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2026 application form window on November 27. Candidates can apply for JEE Main 2026 on the official website at jeemain.nta.nic.in. The JEE Main 2026 information bulletin shows a 'virtual calculator' for the computer-based exam. However, the testing agency has clarified that it was a "typographical error" and no calculator is allowed in the engineering entrance test.

Amid new exam cities for the JEE Main 2026, requirement of Class 11 registration numbers, and ban on use of calculators, the NTA is organising the JEE Main 2026 registration on the official portal. The last date for submission of JEE Main application form 2026 is November 27.

Recently, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) ordered schools to invariably provide Class 11 registration numbers of students appearing for JEE Mains 2026, after receiving complaints from students and parents. NTA decided to use the registration numbers of such candidates to avoid clashes between the entrance exams and board exams and revision or postponement of any paper.

For a brief amount of time, aspirants complained of difficulties in filling JEE Main 2026 registration form as it showed error during Aadhaar update.

39 more JEE Main 2026 exam cities have been added this year, taking the total number of cities from 283 to 323. Moreover, NTA has revised JEE Main 2026 exam date for session 2 which will now be held from April 2 to 9.

JEE Main Registration 2026: What is state code of eligibility?

As per JEE Main 2026 information bulletin, if a candidate has passed the Class 12 examination from one state but appeared for improvement from another state, the state code of eligibility will be from where the candidate first passed the qualifying exam and not from where they appeared for improvement.

Those who have passed Class 12 or appearing for the exam from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) should select the state of eligibility according to the state in which the study centre is located. For Indian nationals passing the Class 12 exam from Nepal or Bhutan, the eligibility will be determined based on a permanent address in India as given in the passport of the candidate.

Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) passing the Class 12 from an institution abroad are eligible for other state quota seats or All India quota seats, but not for home state quota seats in all NITs, IIITs and Other-CFTIs.
