Digvijay Singh Chautala alleged biometric verification lapses and questioned the HTET exam conduct
CHANDIGARH: Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) leader Digvijay Singh Chautala on Friday, July 31, addressed the media over alleged large-scale irregularities in the conduct of the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) and demanded an impartial investigation into the examination process. He warned that if the Haryana government failed to respond to the allegations, the party would approach the court on behalf of affected candidates.
Addressing reporters, Chautala claimed that biometric verification had not been conducted for 1,284 successful candidates, despite a total of 2,33,284 applicants appearing for the examination. He also alleged that candidates from different parts of Haryana had reported receiving unsealed question paper packets at several examination centres.
The JJP leader further claimed that although the examination was scheduled to be held from 3 pm to 5 pm, it continued until around 8:30 pm at several centres. According to him, these issues raise serious concerns over the transparency and fairness of the recruitment examination.
The Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) conducts the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) to determine candidates' eligibility for Primary Teacher (PRT), Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT), and Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) posts in government schools across the state.

HTET coaching centres under scanner
Digvijay Singh Chautala also questioned the functioning of certain coaching centres, alleging that several of them are operated by individuals linked to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He demanded that the details of the 1,284 candidates added to the final result list be cross-checked with the records of these coaching institutes. Referring to the controversy surrounding the NEET examination, Chautala alleged that Haryana was witnessing a similar examination-related scam and called for a transparent investigation to restore candidates' confidence in the recruitment process.
Earlier this month, Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala had also alleged irregularities in the HTET examinations conducted for TGT and PRT levels. He claimed that several examination centres across districts, including Rewari, Jhajjar, Rohtak, Faridabad, and Ambala, reported broken seals on question paper packets, printing errors, and incomplete questions, raising concerns over the confidentiality of the examination. Surjewala had also alleged that after issues surfaced in the PGT (Level 3) examination held on July 4, similar and more serious lapses were reported during the TGT (Level 2) and PRT (Level 1) examinations conducted on July 5.
