JoSAA 2018 Seat Allotment for Round 3 Announced

NEW DELHI, July 10: The results for third round of JoSAA 2018 seat allotment is available now in online mode. The allotment result was announced on July 10 by Joint Seat Allocation Authority(JoSAA), which is authorised to conduct the seat allocation process. The seat allotment result is available institute-wise along with the opening and closing ranks for participating institutes. To check these details, no log-in is required as the candidate simply needs to select the specific institute. However, to check individual seat allotment status, candidates need to log-in to their applicant accounts.

There will be total 7 rounds of seat allotment, with the next scheduled for June 12. Earlier, seat allotment result for Round II was announced on July 3.

Important Dates

The institute-wise seat allotment is different for IITs and NITs. For example, while allotment of seats at IITs is done based on All India (AI) rank only, NITs have two categories – home state quota and other state quota. That being said, in both the cases seats have been reserved for different categories. Meanwhile, category-wise opening and closing ranks of participating institutes are available.

Procedure to check seat allotment status

• On JoSAA website Click on “View Seat Allotment Result and Pay Seat Acceptance Fee” tab

• A log-in window will open.

• Log-in by entering JEE Main roll number and password

• Upon successful log-in, the provisional seat allotment letter will be displayed

Download and take a printout of the provisional seat allotment letter.

What after seat allotment?

The candidate has to next pay the seat acceptance fee online, which is Rs. 35,000 for general, and Rs. 15,000 for other categories. Payment can be done using e-challan. The candidate has to next report at a designated Help Centres for document verification between July 7 and 8.

At the time of document verification, the candidate will have three options – freeze, slide and float. By freezing the seat, the candidate decides to retain the offered seat and drop out from further allotment process. However, if the candidate chooses slide, the candidate will be offered a higher preferred seat in subsequent rounds if available, but within the same institute only. In case of such upgradation, the previously allotted seat will automatically get cancelled. If the candidate opts the last option, float, the candidate will be considered for a higher preferred seat in any institute.
