JoSAA seat allotment result has been announced at 10 am today. To check and download the same, candidates will have to log in using their application number/login Id and password. 

The clarification came after several JEE Advanced 2026 qualified candidates raised concerns about the Class 12 eligibility criteria for IIT admissions. Many students, especially those awaiting improvement exam results or revised marksheets, wanted to know if they could participate in JoSAA counselling. IIT Roorkee clarified that such candidates can take part in choice filling and seat allotment based on their JEE Advanced rank. However, the eligibility rules remain unchanged.

For admission to IITs, candidates must secure at least 75% marks in Class 12 (65% for SC, ST, and PwD candidates) or be among the top 20 percentile in their respective board.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has stated that JEE Advanced 2026 qualified candidates who do not presently satisfy the Class 12 eligibility criteria can still participate in the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process and submit their choices for admission.

In a post on X, IIT Roorkee clarified that candidates from the General, OBC-NCL, and EWS categories with less than 75% marks in Class 12 or its equivalent, as well as SC, ST, and PwD candidates with less than 65% marks, will be permitted to take part in the seat allocation process.

"Students can currently fill in their choices, and seats will be allotted based on their rank," IIT Roorkee said. However, candidates will be required to fulfil the prescribed eligibility conditions at the time of admission.

According to the JoSAA closing ranks, the last-round cutoff for IIT Ropar's BTech Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) programme was 2512 in 2025. In comparison, the institute closed admissions at 2379 in 2024 and 1859 in 2023, indicating that competition for securing a CSE seat at IIT Ropar has eased over the past three years.

After the seat allotment result is announced, candidates who receive a seat must log in to the JoSAA portal and complete the online reporting process within the specified deadline. They will have to upload the required documents for verification and pay the seat acceptance fee.

Candidates must then choose one of the following options:

• Freeze – Accept the allotted seat and do not participate in further rounds of counselling.
• Float – Accept the allotted seat but remain eligible for a better seat in subsequent rounds.
• Slide – Accept the allotted seat and seek an upgrade to a higher-preference programme within the same institute in later rounds.

They must also complete online reporting, upload the required documents, and pay the seat acceptance fee within the deadline.
