The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will open the JoSAA Counselling 2026 registration and choice filling window for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026 qualified candidates today at 5 pm. Those looking forward to secure admission to BTech programmes at top engineering colleges will be able to access the JoSAA registration and choice filling link through the official website at josaa.nic.in. Candidates aiming to secure a BTech seat at one of the 23 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), must have qualified JEE Advanced 2026.
Whereas, for admission to National Institute of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur (IIEST), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT), and other Government-funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs), a valid rank in JEE Mains 2026 paper 1 is mandatory.
Notably, candidates must also have at least 75% marks in Class 12, and 65% for reserved category to be eligible for admission to premier engineering colleges, including IITs, NITs.

As per last year’s data, a total of 18,160 seats are available across 23 participating IITs. Across all institutes, over 62,000 seats will be allotted through JoSAA Counselling 2026. However, with lakhs of candidates competing, only a fraction will be able to secure a seat in their preferred institute and branch.
The JoSAA registration and choice filling process will be concluded on June 11, following which the round 1 seat allotment list will be announced on June 13. The round 2 seat allotment result will be declared on June 20. The counselling process will be conducted across six rounds in total.
The JoSAA counselling 2026 admission process consists of several key stages. Candidates must first complete registration and choice filling, where they will select and lock their preferred colleges and courses in order of preference.
Following choice filling, they will receive college and course offers through the seat allotment result. Then the candidates have to confirm their allotment by accepting the seat online and paying the seat acceptance fee.
Furthermore, BTech aspirants will be required to complete online reporting by submitting the necessary documents to their allotted institute, followed by fee payment to finalise their admission for the 2026-27 academic session.
