KGMU professor SN Sankhwar appointed director of Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU
Banaras Hindu University: Currently Dean, Faculty of Medicine, IMS, is officiating as the director of the institute.

NEW DELHI: SN Sankhwar has been appointed the new director of the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU). He is urologist and head of the department (HoD) of urology, Kings George Medical University, Lucknow.
Sankhwar is also the Chief Medical Superintendent of KGMU. “He has vast administrative experience and is known for his medical and academic accomplishments. His areas of expertise are general urology, male infertility, endourology and female urology,” the official statement read.
He has been contributing in various academic and administrative capacities at Kings George Medical University.
The process of appointment of IMS BHU director was recently concluded at Banaras Hindu University. Currently Dean, Faculty of Medicine, IMS, is officiating as the director of the institute.
Sankhwar will have a tenure of five years as director. “Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, is an AIIMS like institution and is in the process of upgrading its infrastructure, medical and research facilities and patient care. The institute is expected to get a fillip in its ongoing efforts of excellence under the leadership of Sankhwar,” it added.
Department of Paediatrics , Institute of Medical Sciences, carried out the first allogeneic stem cell transplantation in an 11 years old child with relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
